Flu Shot - Why Do You Need A Flu Shot
Flu Shot! You are probably saying why should I get a Flu Shot, I've never had the flu? Or maybe you're saying something like, I've heard that when people get a flu shot they catch the flu. Here's a couple of reasons that you may not have thought of: Yes, every year there are a large number of Americans get the flu, but are you aware that of those that get the flu, there's a percentage of them that die. So maybe its just good insurance, not to mention its relatively cheap, and its especially cheap if you consider the time you will miss from work, and the cost of Doctors vists and medication. It hasn't been to many years back, you know the days of the stage coach and barbers doing blood-letting, that when you caught the flu you would probably die. It was just as deadly as the plague. Of course in todays society we know more about medicine and health care, but none-the-less there are still many who will die from the flu when all they had to do was get the flu shot. The big question is...Why take the chance?
Look at it from another perspective, you and several other millions of people in the U.S. have health insurance. Why is that? Its because they want the assurance that if something goes wrong they will be taken care of. If you look at it in that light the concept of the flu shot is the same...Its just insurance. Its there to guard again'st you getting sick, missing work, maybe losing money because of the illness, or again, maybe you life.
Yes you may have to wait in line for a few minutes to get your flu shot, but that's better than sitting in the emergency room waiting to be seen. Some of the E.R. visits can be hours. When you think about it in terms of time, here is something to consider: You may have to take off an hour from work to go and get your flu shot, now measure that against the several days of work you're going to miss if you get the flu, missing work is almost guaranteed when you have the flu. Even if you can drag yourself into work, your co-workers won't want you close to them, they will be afraid they might catch whatever you have.
I guess what it all boils down to is...You really need to get your flu shot. Heres a few reasons why:
- It can save you a lot of money from what you won't spend with the Doctor if you get the flu.
- You could even end up in the hospital.
- It can make you a lot of money in what you will earn by not missing work.
- It can save your life.
Why take the risk. Save yourself some grief. Go and get the flu shot.
